We are so appreciative of our volunteers. We have volunteer opportunities for all levels of gardening skill and abilities.

Lend a Helping Hand

Watering the Planters

The club provides flowers at a number of locations across town, including the post office, town hall, water district, and library. If any of the plants in these posts look dry, please feel free to water them!

Caring and Tidying Gardens

During the summer, we have twice monthly group garden care sessions. These sessions may include removing invasive plants, installing new plants, weeding, or other general gardening activities.

For summer 2026, we have our group garden care sessions scheduled for:

June 22, July 15, July 27, August 15, and August 31 all at 10:00 am.

We meet on Summer St. Please feel free to drop in. Gloves and a trowel are helpful to bring along.

Planning

The club loves to support educational and charity activities. If you would like to contribute by organizing events or helping a committee, this is the perfect spot for you.

The club organizes one or two educational events a year and supports a few charity events, such as Exeter's Festival of Trees. Volunteers are welcome!

Volunteer Opportunities

All abilities and gardening experience welcome!

Here are some typical volunteer opportunities, please contact the Garden Club directly for more information.

1. Spring town clean up: Pick up roadside rubbish or tidy gardens

2. Workshops: Help with planning, set up, clean up, etc.

3. Grow plants: Donate divided perennials from your yard or start seeds for the plant sale or town gardens

4. Plant sale: Help with potting up plants, get the word out, help with logistics, move plants to sale site, organize set up, support customers, clean up, etc.

5. Planters: Pot up planters around town, water planters

6. Garden care: Keep gardens at town hall and Summer St tidy by removing weeds, planting, trimming, etc.

7. Special events: Support special events, such as the Fall Festival or Festival of Trees, by helping with decorating and planning

8. Winter planters: Collect berries and evergreens, decorate planters for festive winter appeal
